He nodded as the other pointed at the picture of the three islands that made up his home. All three of them had names, but he doubted those names were on that picture: Te Ika a Maui, Te Wai Pounamu, and Rakiura. The other one seemed to be having trouble with the stuff written on top of the pictures too, so maybe if he said the names of the islands that might help. He knew their names without them being written down on paper...
"Te Ika a Maui (the North Island), Te Wai Pounamu (the South Island), Rakiura (Stewart Island)." He pointed to each island as he said it, then drew a circle with his finger around all of them. "Aotearoa."

He watched the other point to the three parts that made up his nation, and say their names. Then as he pointed to the entire three islands as a whole. Copying, he pointed to the entire three islands
"Aotearoa?" he said, pronunciation slightly off.

He nodded, and tried to keep his cool, but inside he was happy as. Australia understood what he and his country were called now! Maybe, just maybe he'd made a friend.
"Australia." He said. "Friends?"

He smiled, thrilled at the idea of having a new friend. Even though he was technically an adult, he had never really lost all of his childish tendencies into maturity. If mature is what you would call him.
"Yeah", he said with a nod. "My friend Aotearoa".
