*feels something poking him. He spins around to find the source of the poking, spear at the ready, and aims the point of it at this new stranger. The stranger said something, but the words were strange and unfamiliar to him.* ... *Gives the stranger a confused look, but keeps the spear pointed at him.*

*The stranger was holding out their hand now? He heard another strange word come from him, but he seemed friendly. He pulled the spear away from the stranger, and brought it to his side before mimicking the action the stranger had done. He wasn't quite sure what it meant, but there was no harm in doing so.*

*Let's out a sigh of relief when the spear was put down. Seeing the other copying his action, he gently grabs hold of the others hand and shakes it slowly, smiling happily*

*He felt a little startled when the stranger grabbed his hand and started moving it up and down. He wasn't sure what this meant, but for some reason it made the stranger happy. Maybe it was a greeting of some sort, but what should he do now? Introduce himself? That might be a good idea, but he didn't understand anything this person said, and what if they didn't understand him?*
"My name is Aotearoa." He said in Maori and pointed at himself with his free hand at the same time. "What's your name?"

*He looked blankly at the stranger, not sure what he was saying. He wasn't sure if it was an attempt at introduction or something completely different. So he introduced himself anyway*
"I'm Australia", he said, pointing to himself, not sure if he understood him. "Au...stra... li...a".

Australia? The name seemed rather unusual, but then again, Aotearoa wasn't exactly a normal name either. He felt this odd sense in the back of his mind when Australia said his name like it was supposed to mean something, but he wasn't sure what. His name was nothing like the names his people gave themselves. He seemed a little different to his people too, but more similar to himself? If that made any sense.
"Are you like me?" He said in Maori, and hoped Australia might understand. Somehow.

He tilted his head and looked at the new person, trying to figure out what they were trying to say. Well, that was his thought. Maybe he has his own language, he thought, tilting his head slightly. Rubbing his chin, he thought.
"Are you a country?" he asked, holding up and atlas. Pointing to the map of Australia, he circled the image with his finger then pointed at himself, hoping he got the idea.

He stared at the book, and then at Australia, then back at the book. How could the picture in the book be him? Was there a picture in there for himself too? He looked more closely at the book, but if he was in there he wasn't sure where he'd be. Australia's picture had something written on it he didn't understand, but so did all the other pictures... wait. There was a little country to the right of Australia which had three islands just like his lands. The top one looked like a fish, just like one of his own islands...
He grinned, and drew a circle with his finger around the three island group. Two big ones, one tiny one, and the top one looked like a fish. Just like his lands.

"That's you?" he asked, pointing to the islands where the other had just pointed before. He turned the map and looked at it closely, finding the small writing to be a pain to read. He had only recently learned English, but found reading it to still be a bit difficult.
